Here at Hatchland we’re gone pumpkin potty, all in aid of international children’s charity World Vision. This Halloween, we’ve been helping World Vision turn a night of fear into ‘A Night of Hope’. With millions of people carving pumpkins across the UK this week, the team have been calling on families to carve hearts into their pumpkins, instead of a scary face, to act as a lantern of hope for children in the world’s hardest countries, who live with very real fear every night of the year.
The Hatchlings have this month have spent a few days with Lesley Waters in her kitchen cooking up a spooky storm, baked 700 Spicy Halloween Heart Cookies as per Lesley’s instructions, hand-carved over 900 pumpkins and taken over the village of Hope in Derbyshire, lighting it up with hundreds of glimmering heart-carved pumpkins to act as a beacon of hope for the world’s children. Just your average PR month.
Anyone and everyone can get involved this Halloween and download the free A Night of Hope pack at www.worldvision.org.uk/anightofhope The pack details how and why to carve a heart into your pumpkin as well as containing some amazing recipes on how to use the left over pumpkin flesh and innards from celebrity supporter and TV chef Lesley Waters.
Now we just need to decide which Hatchling is going to take on Lesley’s Rustic Pumpkin Tart for the team in time for tomorrow!
