2014 is Yorkshire Building Society’s 150th anniversary, for this rather momentous birthday celebration they enlisted Hatch to help them showcase their prestigious history via a creative, nationwide tour. Recently undergoing a complete rebrand, YBS’s 150th anniversary tour was the perfect way for the organisation to document their story ahead of a new chapter for the Building Society.
The YBS 150th anniversary tour offered a great platform to interact directly with their loyal customer base as well as the general public, introducing everybody to the history of the society and some of the most important artefacts from Yorkshire Building Society’s past. Original documents, memoirs, models and more all toured Newcastle, Manchester, Leeds, York and finally, Huddersfield in a modern, inflatable cube, featuring more traditional Victorian décor.
The tour was well received and sparked interest with staff, customers, media and the general public alike. It’s a difficult task to fit 150 years of history into a one day ‘pop-up’ exhibition so staff members from the branch, head office and team Hatch wearing suitably dapper Victorian clothing were on hand to discuss YBS’s heritage and their current charity initiative.
The Hatch team also took a bespoke Penny Farthing on a tour 11 branch locations around the UK from Bristol to Edinburgh. The vintage cycle was a call back to when YBS first began in 1864, and helped launch the charity initiative – ‘A Penny For Your Thoughts’ Lasting Legacy campaign. Happy 150th YBS and heres to another successful 150 years!
