Another month gone, we hear you say?

Yes – May’s certainly flown by, with Kings crowned, Bank Holiday pints downed and Hollywood’s finest, gowned, at NYC’s annual Met Gala.

Closer to home, the Hatchlings have been just as busy, partnering with Rola Wala’s Leeds branch to hand out a staggering 1,222 free meals (that’s 6.78 a minute!) to local residents in recognition of World Hunger Day and the ongoing impact of the cost-of-living crisis.

From foodie delights to pearly whites, we also helped Smmmile throw a launch party in honour of the opening of its fourth clinic, resulting in, you guessed it, smiles all round.

Back to the basics, our talented sports specialists managed to secure a fantastic 190 pieces of coverage for the Harlequins’ Game Changer fixture, including the likes of BBC Broadcast, City A.M and i Paper.

The social team continued smashing out the results, kickstarting a brand-new community management, social listening and influencer engagement remit with long-standing client, Spectrum, and earning glowing feedback across the board after just one week.

In the meantime, Hatch’s designers worked with Berry’s Jewellers and Mayka Studio to give the Coronation crown a magical modern re-imagining, whilst the production team got down and (the opposite of) dirty filming a new product launch for Wet & Forget, before whizzing up to the North Yorkshire coast to capture some incredibly wholesome content with Flamborough Cliffs’ puffin population. You could say, it’s been a busy one.

Our resident readers will know that no Hatch monthly round-up is complete without a run-down of the wider industry’s activities – good and bad. With King Charles’ Coronation prompting PR stunts galore from brands up and down the country, naturally, therefore, we have to share the funniest promos and products we’ve seen during May…

East Midlands Railway

In honour of HRH, EMR decided to celebrate the Royal weekend by handing out a limited number of scones to first-class passengers onboard its London-bound services. We’re still struggling to pinpoint where ‘limited’ and ‘first-class’ come into collective celebration, but we salute the effort, EMR!

Coronation Flakes

We’re not entirely sure of the motivation behind the creation of ‘Coronation Flakes’, or indeed, where the link is between corn-based cereal and the Crown, aside from the play on words, but at an eye-watering £32 per box, we really can’t see them selling out…

Riot Lab Coronation Edition

Whether aimed affectionately or otherwise, a vape range printed with an image of the King’s fingers has to take the top spot for the most outrageous stunt to come out of the Royal celebrations. Coming in a range of flavours, including Victoria Sponge, Breakfast Tea and Coronation Chicken, we’d argue this was a campaign best left at the drawing board…
