2018 has certainly served up a heady cocktail of weather events – kicking off with the sub-zero Beast from the East (hands up who still owes that heating bill?) before serving us one of the hottest summers on record. Remember those warm, balmy days? Us too.

In fact, despite most of us revelling in the 30°C heat, there were a few of our furry friends who weren’t so fond. The nation’s pups were struggling in the unwavering heat – to a point where the RSPCA were inundated with calls asking them to rescue dogs suffering in sweltering cars across the country.

So, what could be better than offering these dogs the chance for some respite? And that’s exactly what we did!

Working with our client, Manchester-based indoor ski slope Chill Factore, we thought it was about time we gave these dogs some time to chill out and relax on real snow! We opened up the Snow Park to pups from across Greater Manchester on 28th June and 23rd July during the hottest hours of the day.

These sessions were totally free for guests, allowing owners and their pets on the snow for half an hour at a time – in total we welcomed 200 dogs to Chill Factore throughout the heatwave! We also asked for donations from those who attended to Care for the Paw, a charity which aims to support the wellbeing of dogs who live on the streets with their owners.

With the help of some fantastic pictures, we secured coverage in numerous titles, including LadBible, Metro, Heart Radio, ITV Granada, Manchester Evening News, BBC News, BBC Radio Manchester to name a few – we also secured an interview with BBC Radio’s Jonny I’Anson that was broadcast across all regional radio stations! In total we secured 258,162,107 opportunities to see – and the news went international, mentioned in a radio broadcast in Portland, Oregon, and in a French lifestyle magazine.

If you’re interested in seeing how Hatch could help your brand, email hello@hatchpr.co.uk or give us a bell on 0113 361 3600 – we love a good natter.
