June 2021 held high hopes for lifting of restrictions and that much-awaited taste of freedom.

Unfortunately, things didn’t quite go to plan. (Who saw that coming, right?)

Nevertheless, it’s been full steam ahead at the Hatch HQ.

And with the summer of sports well and truly kicking off with the return of the UEFA EUROs, excitement has been in the air. Some of our Hatchlings were lucky enough to momentarily flee the Hatch nest and attend the England vs Czech Wembley game with our client and official EUROs sponsor, Hisense! Whilst some were busy donning wetsuits over in Scarborough for our launch of the North Yorkshire Water Park – we know how to mix it up!

Over in Yorkshire’s Food Capital of Malton, the team has been working to announce Meadowfest 2021 with a stellar line-up of food and drink vendors plus none other than the band that brought us the ‘Three Lions’ anthem, the Lightning Seeds as headliners!

Plus, something has been cooking up in the newly-refurbed Hatch kitchen studio and we can’t wait to share it with you – the team hosted their first photoshoot with Chef Rachel Green to create some mouth-watering content for Yes Peas! Keep your eyes pea-led for that one.

Enough about us, here’s what else has been going on that we’ve loved.

June was a very sporty month indeed and although those who work with me will know sport is not my forte (I tend to stick to food and booze…the things I know best), I’ve loved some of the reactive campaigns that have been flying around. Here are some of my favourites…

To kick us off (pardon the pun) we’ve got a brilliant piece from IKEA, with their reactive renaming of their water bottle to ‘CRISTIANO’ following the Coca-Cola diss from Ronaldo that went viral ahead of the EUROs kick off.

IKEA Canada renamed their classic water bottle and insisted on it being for water only, unlike their previous which can hold anything… including Coca-Cola.

After England’s incredible 2-0 triumph over Germany this week, we saw floods of reactive and witty comments from brands. But we’re particularly big fans of this billboard from Specsavers – we’ll let you guys work out the secret message…

And finally, of course it’s got to be something foodie. Everybody’s favourite takeaway, Greggs, were giving away free sausage rolls for every game at Wembley or Hampden Park that saw a goal scored on UK soil during the EUROs right up until the final on the 11th July. Now that’s a win-win!

And to finish, here are some other brands that were on the mark this month:

Facebook adds Shops to WhatsApp expanding its e-commerce offering, now available for stores in the U.S and although not quite everyone’s cup of tea, this Crocs x Balenciaga campaign got tonnes of coverage both in the media and across socials. You can decide for yourself whether you’ll be getting a pair…
