I had known of Hatch for a while through a mutual connection who put me in contact with the team to set up some work experience. I had recently graduated from Leeds Beckett University with a 1st Class (Hons) in Sport Business Management and was preparing to embark on my new journey in completing a Masters in Strategic Sports Marketing.

I applied to Hatch knowing it would provide me with an opportunity to get some hands-on experience in the world of PR for a short while before starting back at university. I settled on doing three days a week for three weeks, around my part time job, before my course commenced.

From my first moment at Hatch, I found everyone to be very welcoming – it was such a friendly environment, which settled my nerves immediately. The whole team were supportive, making sure to help and guide me throughout my work experience period. I got along with the team really well and had some laughs along the way!

Being fairly new to PR meant I didn’t know what to expect. I was able to get stuck in with the team to try out different tasks from Traditional Consumer PR, including building media lists, drafting press releases, pitching press releases to media, drafting blogs for clients, brainstorming and ideation.

I was given the opportunity to work on many accounts such as the Yorkshire Coast Bid, Sportsbreaks, Rugby League Word Cup, Sportsbroker, Whiskey Investment Partners, Hisense and more! By working on different accounts, I got the opportunity to trial a lot of sectors. Being able to explore different areas of PR abled me to expand my knowledge. And, I was able to draft a couple of blogs for Hatch’s own site.

Over the last few weeks, I’ve widened my knowledge around PR and learnt so many new skills that I’ll be able to add to my CV for future opportunities. No day was ever the same with many tasks to work on and I’ve been able to walk away with a great portfolio.

My time at Hatch has been amazing and I wish it didn’t have to come to an end! I want to thank everyone in the team for having me and making me feel so welcome, I’ve had the best experience. I wish you all the best and hope to see you all again soon!

Team Hatch thanks Tilly for all of her help over the three weeks of work experience! If you’re interested in learning more about work experience and internships at Hatch across PR, social media, events, design or video production please contact hello@hatchpr.co.uk
