A very Remington Christmas

As any PR team knows, July is a whirlwind month that is choc-full of events, dinners, press days – and a lot of talk about Christmas. That’s right, we spend our warmest months thinking all about what’ll be under the tree this year. Why? Because long lead media outlets begin to prepare their festive issues far in advance, and that’s why July is such a crucial time for press visits and media outreach on behalf of our clients.

We were tasked with developing an idea for Christmas in July for our client Remington earlier this year, off the back of an incredibly successful event last year which saw us host a Penthouse Party showcasing products from Remington, Russell Hobbs and George Foreman. Attendees from some of the country’s biggest media brands came along to try out our AW18 range for themselves – so it would be a difficult event to top.

Knowing that the vast majority of our contacts would be snowed under with some oh-so-tempting invites (who can say no to a brunch though, really?) we set out to create a brand activation that made their lives easier, while also allowing them to connect with and try our products for themselves. The Remington Christmas Style Cab was born.

Our plan was to offer a free Black Cab service to journalists to help them get to and from all the exciting events in their calendar. What’s more, we stationed professional hair stylist and brand ambassador, Kieran Tudor, in the cab with all our new season products so he could style hair on-the-go!

The response from journalists was fantastic, with a lot of feedback saying how the Style Cab really took the stress out of their day. A couple had evening events pencilled in too, so it offered us the chance to give them a perfect day-to-night style.

Across two days, we scheduled ten meet-ups across London armed with our comprehensive Style Cab schedule (timed to perfection, of course). We drove forty miles and had ten pickups, meeting journalists from the likes of the Daily Mail, Notebook, InStyle, Hello! Fashion Monthly, Cosmopolitan, Bella, Closer, and heat. Everyone had their chance to get their hair styled by Kieran himself, and learn all about Remington’s AW19 products!
